i’ve had a great weekend minus the fact i’ve gotten no work done whatsoever. on friday night, i went out with 3 girls, only one of whom i’m actually friends with, and the other 2 who i was only friendly with before, to dinner and hookah. it was surprisingly wonderful because it was so out of the blue to be invited and to branch out from my normal group. it’s really liberating to be a senior bc i think everyone just wants to make the most of the last year and no one cares too much about the social divides anymore.
then, on saturday, i went shopping and got new clothes for france. i almost never post photos of myself here but when i’m in paris in a week, i’ll show you guys this really gorgeous matching skirt and top ensemble i’m really excited about. and that evening, i procrastinated and watched Blue Is the Warmest Color which was beautiful. it really made me reflect on love and even though this wasn’t the main point of the film, it made me realize more than ever before how horrible it is that some forms of love are still so unaccepted today. homophobia will never make sense to me.
then today, i went to Waiting for Godot on broadway with my french class lol and it was definitely one of those prime examples of “it’s not where you are or what you’re doing but who you’re with” because we’d never read the play and tbh it was confusing, especially in the beginning, and i don’t think anyone got that much out of it but it was still a lot of fun. again, not everyone was in the same friend group or anything but it still felt completely comfortable and close-knit. we were mostly seniors and so we all just talked and joked around on the train and ate together and i think it’s these moments when i realize how fond i am for so many people in my grade and it will be bittersweet when this year is over and we all go our separate ways.
